Weekend School

Islamic Center of Reseda Weekend School

The Islamic Center Weekend School was established in the early 1990’s to educate the children of our community in a fun and loving environment. Children aged from 5 to 13 years old are welcome to attend.
The school sessions are on Saturday’s and Sunday’s from 10.00 am to 01.00 pm.

Our programs include:

  • Learning and memorizing Quran
  • Learning the Arabic language with proper Tajweed
  • Islamic studies, history and sunnah

We take pride in our staff and teachers who are highly qualified and have years of experience in teaching and administration in various Islamic organizations.

Sis. Shirin Karoon

Principal

Sister Shirin has over 30 years of experience in administration at various Islamic organizations. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Administration and Master’s Degree in Languages, Literatures and Cultures from USC. She has been serving at ICR Weekend School since 2018.

Sis. Ghada Hasan

Teacher

Sister Ghada has over 19 years of experience as an instructor of Quran, Islamic Studies, and Arabic. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Islamic Studies, her Master’s Degree in Fiqh and her Ph.D in Aqidah from the Islamic University of Minnesota.

Sis. Nazifa Rahimi

Teacher

Sister Nazifa has been teaching Holy Quran, Tafsir rul Quran and Islamic Studies for 25 years. She completed her Master’s Degree in Tafsir rul Quran and Fiqha and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Islamic Studies, Islamic Art and recitation from Mahad dul Imam Abu Hanifa University. She has been teaching at ICR for past 22 years.

Sis Salima Abdelbey

Teacher

Sis Salima has more than 30 years of teaching experience in the Islamic community here in the US & abroad, with 15 years of committed teaching the ICR weekend curriculum. She completed her UCLA/ Trade coursework to retain provisional Teaching Credentials from UCLA. Currently, she is also an active Pre-kindergarten teacher and director of the preschool/ pre-kinder program.

Bro Mohammad Ali

Teacher/Youth Lead

Brother Mohammad has been one of the lead volunteers at Islamic Center of Reseda and is involved in organizing all the youth and social events for past 4 years. Brother Mohammad is an accountant by profession and is passionately involved in educating our youth and revert brothers and sisters.
